The above link explains the reason why Mr & Mrs Smith were able to survive the incredibly overwhelming number of assailants in the final gun-fire scene of the movie.
It is based off the Star Wars movies, but the explanation works well for every damn movie where the heroes are outnumbered in a ratio of 98,473 to 1 and still manage to escaped more or less unscathed.
